  Research and Development ●
 • Development of new biomaterials, including whitening and antimicrobial ingredients in cosmetics/medical products, to enter the retail market with cosmetics made from CPC-own materials.
• Establishment of a carbon capture facility: completed equipment installation for carbon capture trials and began performance tests.
• Development of eco-friendly solvents: selected suitable oils at the refinery for hydrogenation and purification to produce non-toxic environmentally-friendly solvents.
Green Technology Research Institute
• Developed a solar photovoltaic maintenance system, monitoring and managing more than 250 CPC owned solar photovoltaic (PV) sites, and providing consultation services for new PV sites. By the end of 2024, the power generation capacity is expected to reach 24.829MW cumulatively.
• Established a 30kW hybrid energy storage system and developed an anode material for sodium-ion batteries.
• Established verification fields for distributed SOFC and PEMFC power generation systems, and established a
hydrogen refueling station for the hydrogen-powered-vehicle demonstration project.
• Development of low-cost/long-life lithium titanate materials and high-energy-intensity vanadium-based anode materials.
• Development of high-voltage lithium nickel manganese oxygenate cathode materials and trial production to verify the process technology.
• Performance verification on the vanadium electrolyte of Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB). The electrolyte came from used waste catalyst, in order to reduce the cost of waste catalyst treatment, which is beneficial for the development of the circular economy.
• Developed high elastic insulation coating materials and applied it to high-solid polyol with ultra-low solvent and environmental-friendly products used for coating.
• Developed superhydrophobic coatings and anti-corrosion thermal insulation coatings for use in acidic environments. These were also applied to coatings for geothermal equipment under alkaline/acidic environments to prevent corrosion and scale formation.
• Pilot plant construction and product development from dicyclopentadiene (DCPD).
• Established the standard operation procedures for coral growth and rehabilitation in a newly constructed indoor recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). Currently, we are evaluating the possibility of using cold seawater discharge from LNG receiving terminals for coral conservation and restoration.
• Assisted the Lubricants Business Division in conducting a carbon footprint inventory analysis for more than 400 products produced in 2021. In 2023, we completed a carbon footprint inventory assessment, verification and application of the first carbon footprint label for CPC Water Resistant E.P. Grease No.1, based on product environmental footprint category rules (PEFCR) issued by the Ministry of Environment (MOENV).
• Pilot plant construction for the trial production of fatty acid ester (FAE) to be applied to high-value cutting oil/ base oil products.
• Development of a 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) process to be applied to high-value derivative products.
