/ Environmental Protection and Ecological Conservation Discovering the Beauty of CPC Ecology To protect the ecological environment of the Guantang LNG Plant, CPC established the “Guantang Industrial Area (Port) Ecological Preservation Committee” to promote marine ecological maintenance, sustainable community development and regular monitoring of algal reef ecology. CPC works hand in hand with the Taoyuan City Wild Bird Society and the Taoyuan City Government to jointly maintain the ecological environment of the algae reefs. In order to promote environmental education, a permanent exhibition hall for the “Algal Reef Ecological Conservation Exhibition” was further set up in the Petroleum Exploration Center to promote the concept of algal reef conservation and enhance public awareness of conservation. CPC has carried out a number of marine and land ecological surveys, including Yongan LNG Plant, Shen'ao Port Supply and Transportation Center, Shimen Oil Supply Center and Taoyuan Refinery, to understand the relationship between the operation site and the surrounding ecological environment; to formulate conservation strategies, implement restoration actions, evaluate and introduce the concept of “Other Effective Conservation Measures” (OECM); and transform the factory area into an ecological park, echoing the initiative of the International Convention on Biological Diversity. In 2024, CPC organized the “Discovering the Beauty of CPC Ecology” special exhibition, released ecological videos, and released the ecological conservation book “Encountering the ‘Oil’ Land – Taiwan CPC Ecological Map: A Preliminary Exploration of the Secret Land” to present CPC’s concept of sustainable coexistence with the environment and ecology. 39
